In learning English, students must practice the four language skills. As English teacher and I know that language teaching has identified “the four skills” that are listening, reading, speaking, and writing as of paramount important.
There are two research focuses in this study. The first, how the teacher implement the NHT model on reading comprehension in the eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 PademawuPamekasan, and the second how can NHT help the students’ reading comprehension in the eighth grade of SMPN 2 PademawuPamekasan.
In this research, the research uses qualitative approach. While kind of research, the research uses descriptive research. Because the researcher describes the implementation of NHT model on reading comprehension in the eighth grade of SMPN Negeri 2 PademawuPamekasan.
The result of this research found that in the use of Numbered Head Together (NHT) model on students’ reading comprehension in the eighth grade of SMPN 2 PademawuPamekasan, there are three steps in teaching. The teacher lest the students read their answer through Numbered Head Together (NHT) model. The students can be motivated trough Numbered Head Together (NHT) model, when the teacher gave or pose problem or question. Then the number must prepare their answer by reading the answer loudly.
The conclusion is the students are interested while they are learning English especially learning reading English. Therefore, the researcher decided using NHT model in the teaching reading English text. The students also can express their idea dealing with the text. By this model, the teacher can create a competitive class considering there will many different opinions and ideas from the students when they are applying this technique on reading English text.
