The Effect of Using Hangaroo Games on Student’s English Vocabulary Mastery at the Seventh Grade Of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan

Vocabulary is very important to improve the student skill, because vocabulary is one of the language component and as a base of a language. To understand English easier, the researcher use hangaroo games as media to teach vocabulary. Hangaroo games is a type of word guessing game. In this game players are asked to answer a question with a variety of thing such as, title book/Author, etc.
There is one research in this research, Is there any statistically significant effect of using hangaroo games on student’s English vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan. The researcher wants to measure statistically significant effect of using hangaroo games on student’s English vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan.
The research design of this research is using quantitative research. This research uses non experimental design namely correlation approach involve two variables, independent variable is using hangaroo games and dependent variable is vocabulary mastery. The population of this research is the seventh grade student of MTsN Parteker pamekasan and also as the sample of this research is A class consist of 31 students. While the instrument used in this research was questionnaire, test and documentation. This research was done for two weeks, from 10th- 24th March 2014. The technique of data uses is statistical analysis exactly product moment analysis.
The result of this research showed there is statistically significant effect of using hangaroo games on student’s English vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan. It is proven from the result of correlation coefficient product moment that rxy (0.7540) is higher than rtable product moment with N=31 and degree of freedom (df) is 29 in significant level of 5% and 1% (5%=0.7540 > 0.367) and 1% (0.7540 > 0.470). It include to the table interpretation between 0,70-0,90 in the level strong correlation. Then the hypothesis states there is statistically significant effect of using hangaroo games on student’s English vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of MTsN Parteker Pamekasan is accepted.
Based on the research result above it is suggested for English teacher. As English teacher must be creative in teaching learning process, create fun in interesting class, make student spirit and smart in learning English, exactly in learning vocabulary, one of them is using hangaroo games.
