The Implementation of Denan Empty Outline Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension at the Eighth Grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan

Reading is one of language skill that has important role to help students in learning language. Reading is a way to get information from books, newspaper and other medias. But some students considered that reading is a boring activity. It is usually depend on the way of teacher in deliver the material to the students. A teacher is called competent teacher if she can implement a good teaching model or strategy and manage the class, because the teacher has a very important role in teaching and learning process. The teacher used Denan Empty Outline strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension. The students are not only require to learn reading material that is presented by the teacher, but they can understand and they can distinguish kinds of eight parts of speech.
There are three focuses of study in this research. The first is how the teacher implements Denan Empty Outline Strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan, the Second, what are the weaknesses of the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan, and the third, what are the advantages of the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan.
This research is conducted to know the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy used by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan, to investigates the weaknesses of the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan, and to know the advantages of the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the eighth grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan.
In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach and the kind of research is descriptive research to give description about The Implementation of Denan Empty Outline Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension at the Eighth Grade of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan. In this research, the researcher uses three data collection procedures. They are observation, interview and documentation. It is to obtain the data needed based on three focuses of study.
The result of this research show that Denan Empty Outline strategy was success to be implemented in teaching reading comprehension especially for the eighth grade students of MTs Miftahul Ulum Pagendingan Pamekasan. It is based on the steps implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy in chapter II. The teacher did it in two meeting, the first meeting on Wednesday 11th March 2015 and second meeting on Thursday 12th March 2015. The result of research is also proven with the positive students’ responses that showed the students were very interested to the teaching and learning process through the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy. Based on the result of the research, denan Empty Outline strategy is very effective to be implemented in teaching reading. It can make the students more active. It is shown with the good responses of students through the implementation of Denan Empty Outline strategy. Because they did not only easier to comprehend the text but also they can distinguish kinds of eight parts of speech such us verbs and adjectives.
Finally, based on the result of this research, it is suggested that English teacher expressed to use certain strategy and made good activity to made the students enthusiastic in teaching and learning process and not made the students felt bored in the class.
