THE STUDY OF MADURESE ARGOT OF YOUNG ADULT COMMUNITY IN LARANGAN LUAR VILLAGE

Young adult period have characteristics such as adventure and naughty. This characteristic also can be seen on their language. Their willingness to makes exclusive group causes them to create secret language. This case of secret language can be seen in a young adult community in Larangan Luar village. They use secret language in their communication in order to prevent outsider from understanding of their language.
This kind of language variation is significant to the study because this variation is not only caused by the heterogeneous of its speaker, but also caused by their social interaction or activities that are various. Every activities need or cause that language variation. The problem that appears in field is vocabulary of the language that is difficult to be understood by other people outside the community. That is why the researcher conducts this research under the title “The Study of Madurese Argot of Young Adult Community in Larangan Luar Village”.
There are two research focuses in this research. The first one is how is the use of Madurese argot in communication process of young adult community in Larangan Luar Village. The second one is how is the phonological rule to form Madurese argot of young adult community in Larangan Luar Village.
This research is done to explain the use of Madurese argot in communication process of young adult community in Larangan Luar Village and to describe the phonological rules to form Madurese argot of young adult community in Larangan Luar Village. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. To get the data researcher use unstructured interview and nonparticipant observation.
The result about the use of Madurese argot in communication process are: The first, Madurese argot is used in any situation when the members of community want to talk each other about something secret or privacy while there is or there are people outside community beside them. All of the word is changed into Madurese argot in order people outside community does not understand their conversation. The second, Madurese argot is not used when there is no something secret to be hiding, although there are another people outside the community beside them. The third, Madurese argot is not used if only speak between members of community. They speak by using Madurese language. But, sometimes few of Madurese argot still uttered unconsciously when they talk each other. It caused by the members of community are too often using Madurese argot. The fourth, the topic of conversation when using this language is various. It depend on the speaker what they want to talk about. But the point is want to make another people does not understand the conversation. On the other side, the results of the phonological rules of Madurese argot are metathesis and insertion.
