In STAIN there are students who graduated from SMA and the students who graduated from MA. There are differences in purpose to learn English, SMA students have purpose to implant science and technology basically while MA students have purpose to implant knowledge and Islamic science. And the time to learn English subject SMA have more time than MA. So the researcher think that students who graduated from SMA and MA have difference achievement in reading subject.
There are two problems of study in this research. The first is, is there any difference between the students who graduated from SMA and MA in reading comprehension achievement on reading subject in STAIN Pamekasan. The second problems is, how is the difference significant level of reading comprehension achievement between the students who graduated from SMA and MA.
This research is to investigate the differences between the students who graduated from SMA and MA in reading comprehension achievement on reading subject in STAIN Pamekasan and to know the different significance level of reading comprehension achievement between the students who graduated from SMA and MA. The hypothesis used is alternative hypothesis that is there are difference between the students who graduated from SMA and MA In reading comprehension achievement on reading subject in STAIN Pamekasan. There are two variables in this research: reading comprehension achievement as independent variable, and SMA and MA students graduated as dependent variable. The research instrument in this research is documentation technique.
The population in this research is the students of first semester of English educational program in STAIN Pamekasan. The researcher took 60 students as sample, it consist of 30 students who graduated from SMA and 30 students who graduated from MA. Research instrument which used are documentation. Documentation technique used to get data about the students of first semester of English educational program in STAIN Pamekasan and to get the score of students on first semester of English educational program in STAIN Pamekasan. The statistical formula whice used is T-value, t-value used
