The Analysis of Student’s Error in Writing Compound Sentences in UKK LPM Activita’s Magazines 2019-2022 Period of IAIN Madura

Grammar is very necessary in the rules of English writing. Especially in
writing compound sentence. There are several rules that must be known in writing
this compound sentence. Then the researcher used data from the Essay in LPM
Activita magazine. This study contains a research focus. The first is what are the
student's error in writing compound sentences in UKK LPM Activita magazine.
The second, how are the factors causing the student’s error in writing compound
sentences in UKK LPM Activita magazine.
The method used by researchers in this research is descriptive qualitative.
The source of the data used in this study was student’s essays in UKK LPM Activita
Magazine of IAIN Madura, which consisted of 5 essays. Researchers also use
several reference sources in the form of journals, articles, books, and thesis which
are used as supporting material from the data that the researchers get. To complete
the main data that want to examine, the researchers use observation, interview, and
documentation.
The researcher found 27 data in the form of errors in writing compound
sentences. The researchers can also find out the causes of these errors through
interviews with essay writers in UKK LPM Activita’s magazine. Then the
researcher sorts and analyzes them into the types of errors and the factors that
influence these errors. First, the researcher found the type of error in omission are
14 data, errors in addition is1 data item, and errors in misinformation are 14 data.
Second, factors that cause the errors in carelessness are 21 data, and errors due to
the first language interference there are 4 data.
