This research begins with the realization for researchers that the politeness we have is important in our life. Politeness relates with the study of knowing the way people use a language while they are a having interaction or communication. The existence of a movie that talks about how politeness exists in movie, what people used when making a conversation with each other. Knowing and learning politeness strategy is not only from our surroundings, but through awareness that will propagate from wherever we will start learning it, such as from movie, because movie can be a good medium to learn politeness.
Researchers have two focuses in this research. The first is the researcher analyze kinds of Politeness strategy in Journey 2the Mysterious Island movie to find out the kinds of politeness strategies used by the main character in a movie Journey 2: the Mysterious Island Regarding Penelope Brown Perspective. The second how are politeness strategies used by the main character in a movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island to find out how the main character used politeness strategy in the movie. The researcher used qualitative research with library research method in her research. In analyzing the content, researchers used a content analysis to collect data to be analyzed. Data is obtained from watching movies that have been downloaded from the website.
The result of research focuses on this research, there are four kinds of politeness strategy: bald on record strategy, positive politeness strategy, negative politeness strategy, and off record strategy. The first research focuses on finding politeness strategy in Journey 2 the Mysterious Island. The researchers found 23 kinds of politeness strategies in that movie, there were 6 kinds of politeness strategy for bald on record strategy, 7 for positive politeness strategy, also 5 for negative politeness strategy, and finally 5 for off record strategy The second research focus to find how the main character show they used politeness strategy in every conversation. There are two kinds; direct and indirect communication that researchers found in Journey 2 the Mysterious Island. The researcher discovered how the characters in this film can perform politeness strategy by analyzing the dialogue and physical appearance of the characters. As a result, the researcher can identify politeness strategy shared by Journey 2 the Mysterious Island movie.
