An Analysis of Bullying Against Children in the Movie “Wonder (2017)” from Coloroso’s Perspective,

Bullying is a social phenomenon that is often found in society, especially
among students. Lately there have been many cases of bullying perpetrated by
students at school. This makes bullying considered a problem that really needs to
be worried about because bullying itself is one of the cases that greatly affects
mental health, for example stress which involves excessive thoughts and feelings
such as fear, confusion, anxiety and worry for victims who are being bullied. In
this regard, the researcher analyzed a movie entitled “Wonder” using the
perspective of Coloroso.
In this research, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive approach and
the type of this research was library research in which the researcher analyzed the
data using the content analysis method. The primary data source used by
researchers to obtain data in this research is to use the movie “Wonder” and also
the dialogue script of the movie. As well as researchers collect research data by
using the method of observation and documentation.
The results of this research indicate that there are 3 types of bullying in the
movie based on the perspective of Coloroso. The first type is verbal bullying
which consists of nicknames, reproaches, cruel criticism, terror, intimidating
letters, and gossip. The second type is physical bullying which only consists of
hitting. The third type is relational bullying which consists of aggressive/eye
glances and mocking laughter. As for the impact of bullying, there are 5 impacts
found in the movie, namely worry, feel lonely, inferiority, social withdrawal, and
the last impact is changes in behavior.
