The Analysis on Personality Development of the Main Charater in Novel Entitle “Into the Magic Shop

This study analyzes a novel entitled Into the Magic Shop written by James R
Doty. The analysis of this study focuses on the characteristics and development of
Jim’s personality as the main character. This research has two problems, namely:
what is the character of Jim as the main character in the novel entitled Into the
Magic Shop? And how are the impact of the main character in the novel entitled
Into the Magic Shop? This analysis tries to find is the character of Jim as the main
character in the novel entitled Into the Magic Shop and how the impact of the
main characters in the novel entitled Into the Magic Shop.
To analyze the objectives of the two problems above, the library research method
is used by the researchers to collect the data needed to conduct this research. The
psychological approach is used in analyzing the psychological problems that
appear in the novel.
Based on the analysis, there are 6 stages of Erik Erikson’s theory that the
researchers found from the main characters, namely trust vs mistrust, autonomy vs
shame and doubt, initiative vs guilt, industry vs inferiority, identity vs identity
disorder, intimacy vs isolation. There are emotional impacts on the main
character, consists of feelings of love, enjoyment, surprised, fear, sadness, shame,
