An Analysis On the Students’ Problems In Speaking English At Tenth Grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan

Speaking ability becomes the competence for people interaction and communication.
Speaking also as the way of communication and it makes people who come from different
countries to be comfort in making interaction and communication. In speaking english, some
students of tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasanhave a problems when they want to speak
English. Due to the problems, the researcher, formulate two research focus. The first is what
are the problems of the students in speaking at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan?And the
second what factors make the students not fluent in speaking English at tenth grade of SMAN
2 Pamekasan.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research. The
researcher obtained data from interview and documentation. The informants of this research
are students in Tenth grade of SMAN 2 Pamekasan.
The students problems in speaking English at tenth grade of SMAN 2 pamekasan are
the students feel shy when they want to speak english in front of other people. The students
feel afraid to make a mistake, lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar and also lack of
pronounciation. While the factor make they are not fluent in speaking english fluently such as
: internal factor ( motivation from themself and their personality ) and external factor (
motivation from outside and People around the students such as the student’s family, friends,
and also the teacher)
It is suggested that the students are more aware to the problems and factors of
speaking problems and find some ways to improve their speaking skill and the teacher can
make more interesting and attracting environment that make students feel free to speak.
Finally, The result of this study is to make other researchers concern to teacher efforts to
develop the students speaking skill.
