Analysis of Anaphora and Innuendo of Woman and Equality Speech on “ English Speeches”

Figurative Language can be found in a daily life, such as in education,
social relations, both in the family and in society because of the act of
communication that exists between one person and another. Figuative language
itself has the aim of beautifying the sentence that is written or spoken so that it
can make the listener feel interested and can imagine what is being discussed,
therefore the listener or audience can more understand what is meant by the
author or speaker. Speech as a form of communication occurs because someone
wants to express ideas, ideas and feelings to others. Therefore, the language used
by an speaker must have two main elements, namely persuasive and aesthetic
which aims to persuade, invite and convince listeners of the things that are
conveyed and so that listeners are interested in his speech, so the orator must
continue to display beauty by using good choice of words and use of appropriate
language style.
This study aims to analyze the anaphora and innuendo figure of speech in
speech videos uploaded by the youtube account English speech. Anaphora is the
repetition of the first word at the beginning of every sentence, while Innuendo is a
satirical figure of speech that minimizes the actual meaning of being somewhat
less offensive. This research using qualitative research methods. And the primary
data source of this research is from selected speech that related with woman and
equality topics on english speeches. While the secondary data are from several
books, journal, and the other reference that related with that theory. The
Researchers also use triangulation to verify the research conducted.
The results of this study indicate that there are 23 anaphora and 10
innuendo figures of speech. namely from Emily Blunt's speech entitled "women
education" there are 4 anaphora and 1 innuendo, Emma Watson's speech entitled
gender equality there are 3 anaphora and 4 innuendo, Manussi Chiller's speech
with the title woman empowerment are 8 anahora and 2 innuendo, Angelina
Jolie's speech entitled Equality for Women contains 5 anaphora figures of speech,
Priyanka Chopra's speech with the title full power of woman contains 2 anaphora
figures of speech and 2 innuendo figures of speech
