As international language, English language used in many scientific works or
scientific literature. Because of that, we have to realize that English is important
in our life. So, to know english language we have to study about it well, it is like
the structure of english language, and derivational affixes is the strucure that study
about how to make a new word and how to combine it. In the article “Inserting
Local Culture in English Language Teaching to Promote Character Education”
there are many of using derivational affixes inside, and wants to analyze the article
in order to know about derivational affixes in the article.
The researcher provide two research problems of this study, they are what
kinds of derivational affixes and what is the dominate in the article entitled
Inserting Local Culture in English Language Teaching to Promote Character
Education, and the researcher used a qualitative as the approach, the researcher
used descriptive qualitative analysis on her study. While analyze her study, there
are three steps in analyzing the data: 1) data reduction. 2) data display. 3)
conclussion and verification.
The result showed there is two kind of derivational affixes in the article, they
are prefix and suffix, and the suffix become the dominate one in the article. The
total of prefix that was found is 34 words and suffix is 358 words
