Applying A Small Group Discussion By WhatsApp Group Of Argumentative Essay At The Fourth Semester Of TBI At IAIN Madura.

Argumentative essay is a complete essay as it involves all aspects of the
writers, such as scientific ideas, rhetorical features and adds sense to readers to
accept it. In addition, some people are fearful of writing argumentative essays
because they do not have the idea of writing and have difficulty organizing their
thoughts to form good argumentative essay writing. Essays should be applied to
those methods, such as using a shared study method in a small group discussion.
There are two types of research focuses in this study. First, about how to
apply a small group discussion by whatsapp group in writing argumentative essay
of the fourth semester at TBI of IAIN Madura. Second, about how are the
students’ responses in writing argumentative essay by applying a small group
discussion of whatsapp group.
The researcher used a qualitative approach with adescriptive kind of
research. Researched obtained data fro, interview and documents such as written
result and photographs. The research informants were TBI students’ on the fourth
semester in A class of English Department academic year 2020-2021.
Based on the result of the study, the first is about how to apply a small
group discussion by whatsapp group in writing argumentative essay of the fourth
semester at TBI of IAIN Madura the writing 3 lecturer prepared herself in
conducting teaching learning proses applying small group discussion technique,
especially in argumentative essay, give explanation, example about argumentative
essay and share part of body paragraph in argumentative essay and other
reference. The writing 3 lecturer divide the 32 students’ become 4-5 group and
gave the different topic for each group. And they can collaborate and write the
paragraph based on the topic or based on number of the group. The second, about
how are the students’ responses in writing argumentative essay by applying a
small group discussion of whatsapp group.There are different students response
when the researcher interview TBI A class student about writing argumentative
essay by applying a small group discussion of whatsapp group such as some
Students’ easily understand and don’t easily understand when applying small
group discussion in writing argumentative essay by WhatsApp group, the model
of learning by using WhatsApp group discussion may increase some students and
some student may not increase the students’ interest in argumentative essays
lessons, some the students’ feel motivated and don’t feel motivated in learning
argumentative essay by using small group discussion, some students’ response the
model of Small Group Discussion by WhatsApp group is good and some students’
said is not good learning material used for argumentative essay.
