The Correlation between SiED (Saturday is English Day) Program and the Student Speaking Skill at Eight Grade of SMP Sabilillah Sampang. Thesis

.English day program is a program to train and familiarize the use of
English in daily activity. The real implementation of English day is in speaking.
English Day is a program which is made by a school or an institution with
purposes to make students more active in speaking English and to improve
students’ speaking ability.
This study aimed to find out whether student of SMP Sabilillah Sampang
will have better speaking skill after the implementation of Saturday is English
Day program at SMP Sabilillah. This research is structured with a problem
formulations. , is there any correlation between Saturday is English Day and the
student Speaking Skill at Eight Grade of SMP Sabilillah Sampang?. The method
used in this study is quantitative and the technique used by researchers in this
study is correlation. In collecting data, the researcher used 2 instruments, namely
a test and documentation. Where the instrument will be filled out by 30
respondents, where the researcher uses 20% of the total class Eight grade students,
which are 150 students. Researchers used oral test and documenting student
scores from English teachers.
The results of this study indicate that there is a positive correlation
between the two variables, this is proven by the value 0.232 where the
interpretation of the correlation between the two variables is 0.216 where the
value is more than 0.05. And with that the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted and
the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected
