Student’s Perception on the Use of Instagram on learning Englist at student of English teaching learning program IAIN Madura

Social Media is one of the developments of the technology, social media
has become one of the tools used by people, especially students right now as a
means for learning English and Instagram is one of the many social media that are
widely used by people. Instagram has become a social media that is not only used
as a tool to communicate, but also used as a media to get information and used to
learn and provide English skills.
There are three research focuses in this study. The first, what are student’s
perceptions on the use of Instagram on learning English at student of English
teaching learning program IAIN Madura.the second, what are the obstacles on that
students face on the use of Instagram on learning English at student of English
teaching learning program IAIN Madura. The third, what are the solution of the
obstacle that is faced by student on the use of Instagram on learning English at
student of English teaching learning program IAIN Madura.
The researcher used qualitative approach where descriptive as the type of
this research. Researcher obtained data from documentation and interview by using
Whatsapp application. The research informant was the students of English teaching
learning program IAIN Madura Academic year 2019-2020.
Based on the results, the students gave positive and negative perceptions
about the use of Instagram on learning English. The positive perceptions are showed
by the use of Interesting and effective Instagram in helping to develop English
skills, the students can use the features on Instagram to practice English skills
anywhere and anytime. Meanwhile, the negative perceptions indicate that learning
to use Instagram is more complicated and not conducive. Another hand, there are
obstacles on learning English using Instagram, a) Bad internet network, b) waste of
Internet quota, c) the students do not focus on studying, d) Instagram consumes a
lot of internal storage space. However, the students have solutions of the obstacle
overcome on learning using Instagram. a) the students have strong learning
motivation, b) the students follow educational account on Instagram so they can
focus on learning, c) the students use Wifi so that the internet network still stable
