Analysis on Code Mixing in “Layangan Putus” Film Series

Humans are social beings. As we know as social beings, humans really
need to help of others to fulfill their needs and also carry out their daily lives,
because they cannot run their own lives without help from others. In this case,
every human being will communicate, and socialize with other humans to
convey what he or she needs, what they feels, they idea, or something else.
Therefore they need a tool that they can use to convey some of these things to
others, which is called language. Many young generations use two languages,
like using Indonesian and English to communicate. The phenomenon of mixing
two or more languages in one sentence, it can be called as code mixing. This
phenomenon can be found in “Layangan Putus” film series
There are 2 research focuses in this research namely, what are the types
of code mixing used by the actors in “Layangan Putus” film series?, and how the
code mixing constructed in “Layangan Putus” film series. The approach in this
research used a qualitative approach, and content analysis is a kind of research
used in conducting this research since the researcher intends to analyze about
code mixing in “Layangan Putus” Film Series. The subject of this research is
“Layangan Putus” film series, meanwhile the object of this research is the used
of code mixing by the actors in this film, especially in episodes 6A and 6B. The
data are taken from observation and documentation. The datas found going to
analyse by Pieter Muysken perspective, namely insertion, alternation, and
congruent lexicalization.
There are 17 data of code mixing in episode 6A in this film. They are
consists of 15 insertion, 2 alternation, and 0 congruent lexicalization. Meanwhile
in episode 6A, there are 32 data of code mixing that used by the actors in this
film. They are consists of 17 insertion, 7 alternation, and 8 congruent
lexicalization. So, it can be conclude that this film mostly use insertion type of
code mixing.
