Code Switching and Code Mixing in the Dialogue of Daniel Mananta and Agnez Mo on Daniel Mananta Network YouTube Channel

Code switching and code mixing are the use of the the two
languages found among bilingual or multilingual. One of code mixing users
are Daniel Mananta and Agnez Mo as Indonesian public figure. They use
Indonesian and English when they are communicate each other. It can be
found when Daniel have a dialogue with Agnez Mo in his video of Daniel
Mananta Network YouTube Channel.
In this context, there are two research focus as the important part of
this research. The first is what kind of code switching in the dialogue of
Daniel Mananta and Agnez Mo on Daniel Mananta Network YouTube
Channel. The second is what kind of code mixing in the dialogue of Daniel
Mananta and Agnez Mo on Daniel Mananta Network YouTube Channel.
This research use qualitative as an approach and content analysis as
the research design. The source of this research is is the utterances of code
switching and code mixing in English and Indonesian language by Daniel
Mananta and Agnez Mo video in Daniel Mananta Network YouTube
Channel.
The result of this research found that the dialogue of Daniel Mananta
and Agnez Mo used the types of code switching based on Poplack’s theory
namely there are 14 data of tag-switching, 22 data of inter-sentential
switching and 60 of intra-sentential switching. Daniel Mananta and Agnez
Mo in their dialogue also found that they used the types of code mixing that
is 25 data of insertion, 14 data of alternation and 21 data of congruent
lexicalization.
From the result above show that either code switching or code
mixing used by bilingual with different types of its. So, it suggested to
understand more about code switching and code mixing.
