THE COMPARISON OF STUDENT'S GRAMMAR ABILITY IN EXCELLENT CLASS AND REGULAR CLASS AT THE SEVENTH GRADA OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 PADEMAWU

Grammar is a description of the structure of a language and the way in
which unit such as combining word or phrase to make sentence in the language.
Grammar is ability that has important part in daily life, because it make the
students know about the arrangement of writing and also conversation. Some of
those students are students of excellent class and regular class, whom many
people believe that both of them have different ability in their grammar ability.
There are two problems of this research. The first is do students in
excellent class have better grammar ability than students in regular class at the
seven grade of Junior High School 1 Pademawu. The second is how is the
statistical significant difference of grammar ability between students in excellent
class and regular class at the seven grade of Junior High School 1
Pademawu.There are 4 classes in the seven grade of junior high school 1
pademawu. While the sample are students of A-class as excellent class and the
number are 31. The students of B-class is regular class and the number are 32
students at the seventh grade in Junior High School 1 Pademawu. The instrument
that are used of this research in collecting data are grammar test and
documentation. This research was done on 15 May 2020, the research of data
analysis used statistical method. The obtained data was analyzed by using t test
formula.
The result of research showed that students in excellent class have no
better grammar ability than students of regular class at the seventh grade of Junior
High School 1 Pademawu. It is proven from the result of data analysis that show
the t-value (0,65) is lower than t-table in significant level 5% (2,00).
In addition, the researcher expects that the result of this research can be
new additional reference to deepen knowledge about grammar ability especially to
English teacher and further researcher, they can find idea as solution to overcome
problem related to this research topic.
