A STUDY ON DIFFERENCES IN VOCABULARY BETWEEN SAMPANG AND SUMENEP DIALECT

English as an international language that use with all of people in this words, it frequently used in communication and also in learning English. And Madurese is a Malayo-Polynesian language spoken by about six million peoples in part of East Java, the adjacent island of Madura, and on a large number of smaller islands in the vicinity, all in the Republic of Indonesia. This grammar will be of the standard dialect, i.e. the dialect considered “best” and it is spoken in Eastern Madurese which the city of Sumenep (Madurese : sumenep or sunenep) as administrative and culture capital. It has various kind of local language, for example : Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, Sumenep. Between one and other are different, both in vocabulary and dialect. Those local languages are still used by people in their daily activities.
This study is only limit to the differences of the dialect between Sampang and Sumenep in vocabulary. The researcher focuses is this study in vocabularies in term of synonyms. In this study was the people who lived in Sampang district and Sumenep district in term vocabularies. Which is use in the community at daily conversation.
The data collection was carried out to collect the data to determine the result of this study and take conclusion to collect the data the researcher of this study used the interview and observation.
The result of this study shows there are differences of dialect between Sampang and Sumenep in vocabularies in term of synonyms. Sumenep vocabularies are more complete and formal than Sampang dialect.
In addition, the causes of the differences between Sampang dialect and Sumenep are the distance one and the other and the history in status of people between Sampang district and Sumenep district.
