Writing the essay itself requires ideas and problems that occur or are popular in the writer's environments which are then published by giving the author's opinion taken from the perspective of a particular writer. Because of the difficulty of compiling essays, it is not surprising, if there are some students doing fraudulent things to fulfill their assignments. Many students practice plagiarism. They take text from books or many of them take it from the internet. This has become common knowledge among students. Plagiarism is copying or taking someone's work or idea. There are three type of plagiarism, they are directly copying, using ideas without proper citation and paraphrasing incorrectly
There are three research problems in this research, they are Do college student in fourth semester at IAIN Madura on 2016 – 2017 period do plagiarism, How many percent plagiarisms were done by student in writing essay in fourth semester at IAIN Madura 2016 – 2017 period, What are the factors of plagiarism in writing essay that made by college student in fourth semester at IAIN Madura 2016 – 2017 period.
This research applied uses qualitative approach and then kind of research is descriptive research because in this research the researcher tries to find out and explain the plagiarism that do by student on B class periode 2016-2017 at IAIN Madura. To obtain the data, the researcher used two instrument, they are documentation using PlagScanAplication and interview to the students. thera 25 students who become a sample in this class.
Plagiarism Conducted by College Students in Class B Writing 2016-2017.There are 6 students who do total plagiarism or directly copying. 3 students who do plagiarism on Ideas without Proper Citation and Paraphrasing Incorrectly, and 16 students who did not do plagiarism based on PlagScan analysis. Percentage of Students Who Practice Plagiarism in Writing Class B Periode 2016-2017 are 24% of the total number directly copies.12% who do Ideas without Proper Citation and Paraphrasing Incorrectly and 64 % who did not do plagiarism. Factor of Plagiarism Which Done by Students College in Writing Class B Priode 2016-2017 are, Poor Understanding, Difficult to Look for Idea for Writing, Laziness and Technological Sophistication
Based on the finding above, it suggested for students can understand the kinds of plagiarism, so they can know what actions in the writing process are identified as plagiarism, can avoid this, and can believe in their own abilities in writing.
