THE ANALYSIS OF PUNCTUATION ERROR OF ENGLISH WRITING BUSSINESS LETTER BY THE STUDENTS OF SIXTH SEMESTER OF ENGLISH TEACHING LEARNING PROGRAM IAIN MADURA 2019

Punctuation is an important component in writing that has to be payed attention in writing, because it will determine toward reader understanding about the writing. Most of students university ignored about this existence, esspecially in the placing in the correct rule. The writer should improve their attention when writing in order to minimize their error in writing. Bussiness letter is one of kinds of letter that has crucial rule in bussiness because by this letter one company can communicate with another company by using suitable procedure in each company. This activity help students to learning about how to communicate with another, that can be applied when they outside the campus.
Based on the description above mentioned, the focus of this study is what are the students’ punctuation error of English writing bussiness letter of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura and what are the factor students make error in writing bussiness letter of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura.
This research was use qualitative which kinds of descriftive design. The data collection procedure are obtained by using, documentation and interview. The object of this study is the students of sixth semester of English Teaching Learning Program and for the strenghten the reseacher use a lecture of bussiness letter lesson. And the data checking validity is done by using triangulation based on the triangulation source, technique and time.
The result of this research showed many students’ punctuation error of english writing bussiness letter that have been wrote by them, most of them frequently made an error in ommission of colon, ommission of period, ommission of comma, misinformation of using comma, misinformation of using period and the factor the students make error is misunderstanding of the correct rule, forget about the correct rule.
The conclussion is there were students’ punctuation error that have been made by the students of sixth semester of English Teaching Learning Program IAIN Madura that must be learn and avoid by the other students and the factor that must be remember by the other student in order to do not repeated again by the students and able to make students writing be better. Keep Spirit!
