Writing is one of skills in English that is usedas medium to express the ideas, feeling, opinion, thought, imaginative, and so on. Writing needs some of process, time, and attention. It can be develop by more practice. Wall magazine is one of media that can be used to practice writing skill. FEC (Fun English Club) uses wall magazine as a media to practice writing skill.
There are two problem statements in this study. Firstly,is there any correlation between the FEC members’ writing intensity in wall magazine and their writing skill at STAIN Pamekasan?Secondly, how significant is the correlation between the FEC members’ writing intensity in wall magazine and their writing skill at STAIN Pamekasan?.
Based on the problems of study, there are two objectives of study in research. The first is to know the correlation between the FEC members’ writing intensity in wall magazine and their writing skill at STAIN Pamekasan. The second is to measure the significant correlation between the FEC members’ writing intensity in wall magazine and their writing skill at STAIN Pamekasan.
This research uses quantitative research design where the data is analyzed by using statistical procedure. It is correlation design which involves two variables; they are FEC members’ writing intensity in wall magazine as independent variable (X) and their (students’) writing skill as dependent variable (Y). The population of this research is 50 respondents or students. So the researcher must be took all of the population as sample because it less than 100. The data were collected by using questionnaire anddocumentation.
The result of this research is the value of “r_xy” is 0,57 and the value of “r_table” is 0,2787. The result shows that the value of “r_xy” is higher than “r_table”. Based on the table interpretation, the researcher knows that the value of “r_xy” is 0,57 in interval 0,40-0,599 is in enough level.
From the result of this research, the researcher can give conclusion that the hypothesis of this research is; there is correlation between the FEC members’ writing intensity in wall magazine and their writing skill at STAIN Pamekasan. So, the alternative hypothesis is accepted, but null hypothesis in this research is rejected.
