In daily activity, human being use term of address in communication.
Term of address is word used to address or call someone in order to open
conversation with others. In term of address there are some type of
address term which influencing by environmental factor, social status, age
and also friendliness. Some type of address term among others is
familiarizer, term of endearments, family term and other. Term of address
possible only small shares from a conversation but term of address
represent important thing in a conversation.
There are two research focuses in this study that become the main
study of this research. The first is the usage of address variation term by
female student at the eighth semester to other people at STAIN
Pamekasan. The second is term of address variation that used by female
students at the eighth semester of english teaching learning program at
STAIN Pamekasan. Accordingly, there are two research purposes based
on the research problem above, the first is to describe the usage of address
variation term used by female students at the eighth semester to other
people at STAIN Pamekasan. The second is to identify the term of
address variation that used by female students at the eighth semester of
english teaching learning program at STAIN Pamekasan.
The researcher uses qualitative approach in research design and kind
of research of this study is descriptive research. The researcher wants to
describe and informs the readers actually about the usage of address
variation term that used by female students at the eighth semester of
english teaching learning program at STAIN Pamekasan. The research
instruments that the researcher used are: interview, observation, and
documentation. Interview is used to get information from the female
student about the usage of address variation term. Observation is used to
observe conversation of female students in their communication.
Documentation is used of this study after the researcher gets the data from
interview and observation then data will become document.
Documentation also conducted by taking picture when the researcher
doing interview.
The result of this research shown that female stdents at the eighth
semester using term of address in their communication. Term of address
which they use any kind and they use term of address with aim to bringv
close and make their friendship more close. Term of address which they
use among others beb, say, ca iyung, that all include to term of
endearments. Term of endearments usually used to someone which have
special relationship, but in this college term of endearments not only used
to their boyfriend but also used to friend fellow. They used term of
address based on which they wish
